Prince Wladimir Romanovsky-Krasinsky

Wladimir Sergeyevich Krasinsky ("Vova"), Wladimir Andreyevich Krasinsky from 1921 after his adoption by Grand Duke Andrew Vladimirovich of Russia, in 1935 received the title of Prince Wladimir Andreyevich Romanovsky-Krasinsky. At the start of the Second World War, he called himself Wladimir Romanoff. Illegitimate son of the ballerina Matilda Kschesinska and one of the Russian Grand Dukes.

Born in Strelna. In 1920, with his parents, he emigrated to France.

In 1939, the whole family fled to the South of France. In June 1941, for his participation in the Monarchist Youth Union, he was arrested by the Gestapo and placed in the Royallieu camp (Frontstalag 122) in Compiègne where he remained for almost 5 months. Thanks to the incredible efforts of his parents, he was released. There is no reliable information about the activities of Wladimir Andreevich in the following years of the war. He is believed to have worked in the British secret service.

In the post-war years he was an active member of the Saint-Alexandre-Nevsky Cathedral parish in Paris.
